the journey of a rural woman-me-living with a complicated mind and an equally complicated history. A little ADHD here, a little borderline personality there, along with trauma, mental illness, motherhood, mistakes, love, faith, and the strange duality that can exist inside one person.
This is a journey toward recovery, but it isn't a perfect recovery story.
There have been bumps, bruises, and scrapes. There have been moments when my heart felt broken into a million pieces. There have also been moments of faith, curiosity, humor, determination, and hope.
Through Ann, I portray versions of myself: the child, the teenager, the mother, the wife, the frightened woman, the hopeful woman, and sometimes the woman who doesn't completely understand herself.
This collection is somewhat reminiscent of Chicken Soup for the Soul, except these stories are told entirely through my eyes and, perhaps more importantly, through my heart. -Ann
