A different take on 'The Rising of the Shield Hero' story. Naofumi still gets summoned to Melromarc along with Motoyasu, Ren and Itsuki and he's still the shield hero. However, there will be a different twist in Naofumi's fate and Motoyasu, Ren and Itsuki try to help him while dealing with their inner feelings for him.

WARNINGS!: Murder, attempted murder, mentions of cutting, kidnapping and strong language! . . . . Motoyasu is ordered to kill no other than Naofumi by Myne, who is hateful for how successful Naofumi is growing. Motoyasu doesn't hesitate to agree and begins his journey to assassinate the shield devil. Before long he finds Naofumi and is unable to kill him. This leads to a conflict with his feelings, and a special message to the king of Melromarc if he can't kill Naofumi. (Also being posted on AO3)

Even though the first four had such powerful weapons the fifth hero came with nothing. He had no special skills, or items, he was just a man. So he did the only thing possible. He became strong with his own power. He became the Shadow Killer.

so the whole mage and staff hero is finicky. in my eyes mages can also utilize staff's as well as books so in this story a 16 year old nerd who plays videogames but also worships hecate (the goddess of magic) the boy's name is David.
