An ancient and powerful artifact must be recovered and delivered to Grayskull before Skeletor takes possession of it. What if a Masters of the Universe story appeared as a serial in "Weird Tales" back in the 1930's? I wrote the bulk of this story in 2009 - 2012 (and completed the final two chapters in 2022) as an experiment along just those lines: a MOTU adventure in the style of Robert E. Howard, of whose works the MOTU franchise has always been derivative. Those early minicomics, beautifully illustrated by Alfredo Alcala and Mark Texiera, captivated my youthful imagination and led to my eventual love of prewar American pulp fiction. This story draws mostly on that canon, with some Filmation elements as well.

This is one of a series of stories re-imagining the Masters Of The Universe universe from a more mature perspective, where a society that uses a blend of magic and technology struggles to rebuild after a series of Great Wars, and a band of heroes, led eventually by a wandering barbarian called Lord Adam, He-Man of the Vulnarians, takes a last stand against the vile Scientists Priests of Infinitia and their evil master, Skeletor, the Lord of Destruction. In this story, an unnamed narrator (who is hinted at being the infamous Man-At Arms) remembers how the infant Adam was first brought to the warrior tribe of the Vine Jungles, who worshiped the wild Divided Goddess Teela Bo-Na. In honour of the 40th anniversary of 'Masters Of The Universe' first airing on television, here is a story I wrote about the (possible) origin of Castle Grayskull and its unlikely connection to a key character. Enjoy!

Premiering on Netflix in September of 2021, the CG animated reboot of He-man and the masters of the universe as a brand companion to Kevin Smith's Revelation series aimed at a younger audience while Revelation turned out to be incredibly polarizing (basically the Last Jedi of MOTU) the CGI series wound up going under the radar from the cartoon community and the MOTU fanbase. could this be due to the lack of promotion from Netflix? being overshadowed by the backlash against revelation? either way, with this book I will explains as to why I believe the CGI he-man series to be an overlooked gem that shouldn't be slept on.
