Our story takes place in Paris, France in the year 1900. Christian, a English poet writes the tale of his love for Satine, a Courtesan and the "Sparkling Diamond" of the world famous Cabaret the Moulin Rouge.

in the outskirts of paris, deep in the latin quarter sits a man at his typewriter and a woman atop an opulent stage. the streets smell of liquor and turpentine yet the run down flats of montmartre hold celebrating bohemians as the nineteenth century comes to a close. the closest thing to the underworld-the intoxicating and erotic moulin rouge-can be seen from miles away, home to prostitutes and ghoul-like men and women. the passionate writer, determined to find love in its rawest form and the courtesan, searching for a way to save her beloved home become intertwined in a story of intimacy.

Inspiration: It's strongly inspired by the song "El Tango de Roxanne" from Moulin Rouge. It also deals with some of my personal jealousy when one of my biggest crushes started dating someone who wasn't good for her (even though she was a celebrity and I had no chance of ever dating her myself). It's probably the darkest and most sensual thing I've posted, but it's not explicit. It's also one of my more personal poems.
