Raised on isolated sugar plantations, from deep in the Zambezi valley inhabited by the two-toed Vadoma tribe, to the Kafue valley of the Batwa, and the Shire valley inhabited by the Chewa, Delta Papa is taught local traditions by the indigenous tribes, during an epoch when roads were tracks and communication was by word of mouth. Attending conservative boarding schools in the colonies he eventually emigrates to Europe. The calling for Africa is too great and he returns to run trucks in Mobutu's Zaire, and diving for sea-cucumbers in Mozambique and Somalia. As an emergency logistician with aid organisations, he describes the dangers, misery, passions and twists of fate, with a personal touch that will keep you riveted from start to finish.

Yet another battalion departs for Mozambique, to fight in a seemingly endless war. It includes a reservist 2nd lieutenant and a private who barely know each other. Having left behind his fiancée, a medical student, the officer indulges in transient passions and reckless behavior. The private, married and with a daughter, struggles to survive in a strange environment, among hostile animals and plants, mined paths, ambushes, scorching sun and blinding fog. Back in Portugal, the officer's fiancée and the private's wife survive amidst fear, prejudice, and misery, guided by their natural strength and by love. The guide quickly slid out the iron rod that locked the door and they walked in. Pulling out his knife he said to the soldier, "All you gotta do is gimme light with your flashlight."An instant later the hut was filled with shrieking, as if two foxes had slipped into a chicken coop. The women were sitting on the ground. The guide grabbed one of them by the hair and sliced off her throat with a fast, precise blow. In the darkness, the other woman, also screaming, could not exactly understand what was happening. In a matter of seconds, the two women were lying down, bleeding profusely. The soldier, shocked by all that blood, asked, "The children too?""Captain said, kill everybody."Seeing their mothers in that state, the children started howling and tried to run away, but the guide grabbed them and sliced their throat one by one. When the soldiers woke up in the morning the heads of two women and three children were hanging from the stakes of the barbed wire fence as an example to anyone who dared attack the encampment again.

"Echoes of the Future" is a dystopian science fiction narrative set in Matola, Mozambique, in the year 2085. The story follows Gin Mark, a 14-year-old boy, and his friends Luke and Silvia, in a futuristic world filled with advanced technologies such as electric cars, delivery drones, and holographic displays, yet marked by social inequalities. Gin, living with his adoptive parents in a humble neighborhood of Matola, sees his routine shattered by a sudden attack from robots controlled by an AI linked to the "Artificial Paradise," a system that promises immortality by transferring human consciousnesses into a virtual world. The attack, part of a New Order seeking to impose this system, plunges the city into chaos, forcing Gin and his friends to fight for survival after the tragic loss of their loved ones. United with rebel soldiers, Gin, now under the identity of "Uncertainty," joins the Fragments, a group of young warriors, and discovers Globeland, a secret floating city. The narrative expands to settings like Nestlicity, where the United Faiths, an organization blending religion and technology, controls society, and a base in Antarctica, where secrets of the Genesis Project threaten to redefine humanity. With the help of Synthie, his AI assistant, Gin faces dangers, unravels conspiracies, and embraces uncertainty as his strength, while the group splits to confront an ancient threat awakening, leaving the future uncertain in a battle for freedom and identity.
