[Under revamp as of 1-19-24]
The stone pathway lay lifeless-a small frame easily paled in comparison to the unnerving abode that stood behind the only source of life. A foutain etched in many secrets beckoning you to the horrors behind closed doors.
Maybe this time would be different?
Was it a naive way of thinking? Yes.
But maybe the past was nothing more than a nightmare.
Once again I found myself alone.
The wind was gentle-a careful hand guiding my strands of short, chocolate hued hair to sway, to whisper in thoughts of running to it as a companion.
I bring my freehand up to my chest, clutching the small, cross-shaped pendant resting around my neck. The chain was frail, my fingers grazing the blue gem that sat in the middle-along with its small details and elegant patterns.
I was grateful to still have it.
"Please..." my plea was whispered. "God, give me strength...courage."
I lift my head-taking in small details in search for something that wasn't there.
Shredded nerves were fickle things.
Each beat of my heart was steady-a warning sign ignored in hopes I would triumph over these trials...that I would make my parents proud.
I wasn't going to turn around, psych myself out or crumble to the knots twisted tightly in my stomach.
I couldn't...
They would be proud. They would one day smile and everything would find its answer.
Lost. Locked away with lies. Desperate for answers withheld from reach.
My weak little soul only need time-the seconds slipping away with the one thing she couldn't find enough of.
They drew near with ever beat of her heart. Every breath. Every cry.
Eyes haunted with kinder touches of sugar-coated deceit.
'Just let me out...'
[Began- revamped.
