Murtagh was born the son of the heir of Potter, and the heir of Morzan. When his mother-a potter, and his father-a morzansson-die in suspicious circumstances, Murtagh should have been able to go on living within the Wizarding world, after all, he is the heir of two famous noble and ancient houses with direct descendent ties to Godric Gryffindor, and Rowena Ravenclaw, and a distant descendant of Salzaar Slytherin. Unfortuantely, Charlus Potter is a vain and greed man, and, with the help of Albus Dumbledore, Murtagh disappeared from the wizarding world, believed to be dead. Murtagh, stuck in an orphanage where he was abused for nine years, when he finally turns sixteen, Abraxsas Malfoy and Tiberius Snape are sent to investigate unknown magical traces, and they find a severely abused, and clear slytherin wizard living in haneous circumstances. Now, once he is finally reintegrated into the wizarding world, Murtagh Morzansson, son of Morzan Morzansson-a famous Slytherin-and Evileen Potter-a famous Gryffindor and rightful heir to the Potter house-decides to take his revenge.

Based on a headcanon from Tumblr (eragonheadcanons.tumblr.com) Eragon did defeat Galbatorix but was wounded by him in their final battle-a wound that doesn't heal with conventional magic or healing treatments. He lies in a bed in the castle and is proclaimed King, despite not being conscious or consenting. Several months pass and laws are passed under his name, one of which frees every slave in the country. One of the slaves freed comes to the castle to work as a servant instead of seeking an entirely new life and profession. They meet Murtagh, who has stayed instead of leaving and make some sort of impression on him. They are asked to come and help take care of the wounded King.
