This is a newsies x reader story. I'm kinda new at writing fanfics so I hope you enjoy!

Clarice Higgins isn't your average girl, she was one of the few girl Newsies which made her a winner at selling papers along with her twin brother Anthony Higgins, mostly known as Racetrack. When Joseph Pulitzer raises the paper price, the newsies go on strike. Follow the heroic story told by yours truly....

I escaped the refuge bloodied and bruised only to get another beating. 'I'm going to die' I think before I'm rescued. Black spots dance across my eyes as the Delancey brothers drop me making me hit my head on the hard concrete. Before I can see my saviors I black out.

Alexis Kelly (yes I know that's how most if these stories are but stick with me) just wanted to be in charge. She's a badass, she's independent, she's a hell of a fighter, and she doesn't let people push her or her "family" around. She always looked up to her big brother jack even though she didn't always let him know that. Alexis goes by the name spade because she always wins in poker. All the Manhattan newsies know she's a girl but, no one else does. Yeah that's not gonna work well with this whole new strike thing. She wants to help as much as she can but jack keeps her back as much as possible. And yeah this whole king of Brooklyn let's just say he's about to be hit by the only person who won't take his shit. (Yes this is a spot colon story) The only character I own in this story is Alexis Kelly Warning: foul language is used a good amount, fighting both vocal and physical

Spot's Kid Sister Ella is moved to be a Manhattan Newsie so she is left in care of Spot's friends there. Race and Jack show her what it's like to be a Newsie and Davey shows her the ropes of town. And Does Ella fall for one of her brothers' friends or does she keep to herself about it. And will Spot have to bust someone's chops if they's gonna mess with his kid sis. This is a text version of the 1992 movie (minus most of the songs because it felt awkward to leave them in) but adapted to include the romantic storyline that my gay newsboys truly deserved. I will update kind of sporadically because I get random inspiration and will write, like six pages in a day, but then I lose all interest for weeks at a time. I take some artistic liberties, but try to stay fairly true to the scripting. Note: the chapters I post on here are not necessarily done being edited, so if you have any tips on things I should fix, feel free to comment and I'll put it into consideration! You may have heard of the New York cowboy Jack Kelly and the King of Brooklyn Spot Colon, but I guarantee you never heard of Midnight. The Newsie fighter and 1 of the only girl newsie in all of New York. No one knew that she was a girl except her big brothers. Mush Meyers and Fighter Meyers. She planned to keep it that way for as long as possible. In fact, everyone knew very little of her (besides her brothers). All they knew was she was related to Mush and Fighter and as soon as she was done selling papes she would disappear and by the next time you saw her, she would be sporting a new shinnar. She once was a kind and outgoing newsie who made the world just a bit brighter for those around her. Back then, she was known as Wolf. Until she disappeared for 2 months and came back as a different person. Someone who you didn't want to meet when you're one of her assignments. She wasn't just a Newsie but a fighter who had enough skills to be paid for it as well. A hell of a good one at that. Think of it as a soak for hire. Though she has rules on who she soaks. And nothing can make her break those rules. But when the Newsies go on strike Midnight, a mysterious Newsie gets sucked in even though she so desperately didn't want to. Along the way, she met Spot Colon, the King of Brooklyn. To say the least, she didn't like him at first. Due to the reason he reminded her of someone she had to turn her back to when she needed him the most. Even more so when old unwanted feelings start to emerge. But the King of Brooklyn found her interesting and wanted to know more about the elusive Newsie. In hopes that this newsie could help him reunite with a girl that he lost all too long ago.
