Diminishing Decay is the second story of the series, however, the first was a prequel so this can be read as a stand-alone story! This is a collaborative story about the hardships of MCR as they progress together as a band. The story is Frerard-oriented, going through the rise and fall of both Frerard and the band itself. It's been two months since her dad's death. It's been two months since her entire life was flipped upside down. It was the McMillin's first day of high school in their new town. Illi was going into her senior year, while her brother Mikey was starting as a freshman. Both were severely rattled by this incident, but they showed it in different ways. Mikey is trying his very best to make his father proud, while Illi has come to the conclusion that nothing good ever lasts long. She thought a new identity would help her, but her mother isn't taking this change so well.

Gerard is new to the school.. he finally got kicked out of his old one, now being forced to go to school with Mikey, not that's it's a bad thing. unlike what people would thing, Gerard and Mikey get along great..it's just other people that bugs Gerard. he sticks out like a sore thumb, hes soft spoken and has pretty feminine features as well as dressing up in pastel clothes (skirts). he gets into fights a lot and he's not afraid to stick up for himself but it gets tiring so he normally lets his bully's do whatever they need. at his new school he meets Frank. he's known to not let people push him the wrong way and he'll call you out on your bullshit. Frank finds Gerard...uh, interesting. it's hard to tell what Gerard is thinking most times and that really bugs Frank. Gerard tends to be in his own and Frank wants to change that...but how can he? Gerard will forever be known as the "cross dresser" and Frank will always be seen as "too good" for Gerard.
