Chishio Akane has always been afraid of her own power. Having "Blood Bending" as her quirk, she can manipulate any form of blood an ability that makes her fear hurting others if she loses control. After the death of her mother when she was fourteen, Akane is left struggling with grief, guilt, and the memories of the only person who truly understood her quirk. Her mother, who possessed a similar ability, had helped her learn the basics of controlling it before she passed away.
Now living alone with her father, a quirkless but highly respected army officer, Akane tries to rebuild herself. Though strict in training, her father is caring and endlessly supportive, teaching her hand-to-hand combat and encouraging her to grow stronger without ever forcing her to become someone she is not. With his support, Akane slowly learns that strength is not something to fear.
Quiet and socially awkward, Akane has difficulty opening up to others, but she still pushes herself to form friendships and move beyond the pain of her past. Despite her fear of her own quirk, she dreams of becoming a hero, not only to honor her mother's memory, but to prove to herself and everyone else that a power people see as frightening can still be used to protect others.
As time passes, Akane begins discovering new ways to use her quirk beyond what she once believed possible. Through battles, friendships, and painful lessons, she slowly transforms her quirk from something she fears into something she can truly call her own.
