Kaneki Ken was a boy who died a few weeks ago, having been tortured by Jason. But he didn't move on. He's stuck on Earth as a ghost, and the only person who can see him is his best friend, Hideyoshi Nagachika. Hide took Kaneki's death pretty hard, so it's lucky that Kaneki is still here. Hide even forgot some moments in his life - including when he and Anteiku found Kaneki Ken. With Kaneki by his side, perhaps his slight amnesia won't become a problem.
