But horcruxes are the last thing on his mind, Tom's roommate Nāga is the only known male maledictus and Tom has to find a way to balance his future hopes of rising to power while also spending his time trying to find a way to cure his best friends blood curse before it's too late and he succumbs to his families blood curse. Note; Nāga is essentially a male version of Nagini and while I recognise the timeline is weird because of Fantastic Beasts this is just an AU in which he went to school with Tom, some other things in the timeline might be off but I'm not too worried about it, this is just for fun. Also in picturing Nāga as it is a defined as 'a serpentine class of semi divine deities found in Hindu religion' I imagined him as Indian or at least poc and of course your interpretation is up to you but that's just how i envisioned him :)

Tom Marvolo Slytherin was dining at Great Hall, when he heard something about there being a group of transfer students. All came from a pureblood family either from German, France, or America. Tom knew something was going to happen when those students arrive. He is Afterall, the most handsome, smart, and powerful teacher at Hogwarts, so he hears from the students. He feels that will change with one of these students. What will he expect? Or Tom Riddle enters as a new DADA teacher and is known as the cold, and handsome teacher. He has a snake that whispers sweet truths into the ears that she prays on, but one. Hadriel Nott Avery, the younger twin of Theodore Nott and a Ravenclaw. Riddle doesn't care much about Hadriel, but notices that Hadriel is only ever seen in classes and the library. Ms. Prince also reports that Hadriel is in there for hours endless. This spikes curiosity on why the boy hangs in there instead of being a stupid teenager, he is Afterall, the school's biggest mystery. (I think the first one maybe it, who knows?)
