It was a bacteria, nothing more. Then, a single-celled organism with a blurry definition, that was accidentally discovered by scientist Felix Fox in the increasingly tepid fringes of the Arctic Circle. Fox claimed the 'bacteria' possessed consciousness, intelligence. The people began to call it Fox's Friend. We never stood a chance. Faster than humanity could predict or react, Fox's Friend overtook the natural world, infecting plants, mammals, and fish alike. We didn't know to be afraid, not until the deaths. Fox's Friend, deceptively named, raged through the human mind, chewing it up and hemorrhaging it from the inside out. We had no other choice. We used all of our technology to construct the greatest, sustainable city on the Atlantic. We surrendered to sequestration, to confinement, to survival. Over 100 years Post-Exodus, the City of Unity stands tall on the water. It's grown, twisted and snarled towards the sky, a permanent fixture on the ocean. It is a living, wheezing city - forever safe. This is the home of Anneke Yamamoto, and this is the story of her ultimate quest for freedom; for the right to be truly alive. Given a chance at an opportunity she cannot afford to ignore, Anneke embarks on a treacherous journey to reunite humanity with the mainland and the nature that cruelly rejected them.

Is it possible to rise from the dead? The unearthing of Otzi, a frozen dead body found in the Swiss Alps in 1991, was a major discovery that created a sensation. But Otzi never came to life. Years later, a 5,000 year old body is found alive on the Sinai Peninsula. * Why was it alive and what did scientists claim? It could have been a pure luck environment with the correct chemicals allowing the body to remain in stasis. * What did religious figures claim? Many religious organizations and cults were convinced it was preserved by God or other spirits, but the biggest one was the claim that this was a famous historical person linked to a biblical prophet. * What did Raelians claim? It had to be aliens from another planet who came to earth 25,000 years ago. Other mysteries arose: * Were there connections between the Pyramids of Egypt, Mexico, and China? Evidence was constantly surfacing that this was true. * Were strange myths reinvigorated? Dropa Stones are considered a myth that originated in China, or do they have a connection with unearthly forces? * Or were aliens from another planet involved? These are the big mysteries occupying the minds of scientists, cult followers, and Ufologists. But . . . there is one way to solve these mysteries. Imhotep Awakens!

The prompt for this one is number 46 (spoilers btw), "Someone discovers that we are all actually robots --- who created us and why?" My story follows Miles, who invents a microscope that can magnify things over 1 million times, and finds out some pretty interesting information
