Cherry Bennett is a close friend of Michael Emerson and his family. A unsettling life situation causes her to pick up and move to Santa carla with them. She helps the family out, especially Lucy, Being as she's going through a divorce. Cherry can relate because she is also going through a separation, from her family. Michael and Cherry have been friends for many many years and Lucy treats her like a third child. They planned to go back to school together eventually after the Summer.

In ''SHOW ME MERCY'' you meet the two main - characters, the wolves Mercy and Nanook. In the first chapter you meet Mercy, a lone she-wolf whom just had been kicked out from her pack, for being ''one too many stomach to fill''. She knows close to nothing about hunting and killing. She had been alone for close to a week before she met Nanook and his friends. Nanook is an arrogant, cold, hunting expert. He knows the drill as he left his pack years ago, when his sister Jewel was just a pup.
