When Pippa Fitz-Amobi knows about the outcome of the trial regarding Mac Hastings' guilt in killing Jason Bell, she decides to return to her old life. However, what she finds is beyond her. Ravi is no longer hers, and his new girlfriend may cause Pip more problems than she suspected. Pip certainly won't be able to forget about Ravi like she hoped she would. Months after the Little Kilton murders are finally put to rest, life has started to look normal again-on the surface. Only, instead she finds herself maturing faster than she meant to. Living alone can do that, she realizes, as she warms up to her new apartment and navigates life as a puppy-mom. She's recovering from the heartbreak of leaving Ravi that she brought upon herself - if she's going to be leaving for college, she wants it to be a complete fresh start. As badly as it hurts her, she does it anyway. She's trying new drinks, like way-too-sweet and way-too-expensive coffee. She's casually dating (even if she doesn't think it'll be good for her). She's making new friends, because out with the old and in with the new. Oh, and she's pregnant. She's navigating the next four years of her life relatively alone - the only stable things being her three new best friends, her dog, and her growing child.
