Tired of scraps from Jiraiya and basics from Kakashi, Naruto trains in secret. Shizune, overlooked by Tsunade, becomes his quiet partner, drilling precision, anatomy, and control. He builds techniques that stand without the fox. When the Leaf is threatened, he steps forward with strength he forged himself, and his mentors finally see what they missed.

Thanks to his lack of Chakra Control, Naruto finds it difficult to learn Ninjutsu, and is incapable of Genjutsu, and he has little skill when it comes to Taijutsu. Left with no other options, Naruto turns to Kenjutsu for a combat specialty, and the first ever time that he swings a blade, he instinctively knows that he's found his calling.
