An ornithologist receives a message about one particular albatross in the Midway Atoll rookery. This is a submission for National Geographic's "Planet or Plastic" writing contest.

The earth is dying. In more ways than one. It's time we understand the consequences of our actions because ultimately it will cause problems we might not be able to redeem. This is a series of short stories about the environment and the problems we cause. This might also have some of the problems we are facing in our daily life. Note: This might not be very polished but I'm trying. I think some of the problems should be known more. Actions should be taken. This book is for me to express my views about certain things in the way that I know best-writing. I hope you like this.

Hello! This is my submission to #PlanetOrPlastic. I hope you enjoy my little story. :) "Granny, what was it like?" The little girl with medium-length hair asked as she settled into her bed, small fingers creeping out from underneath the thick blanket. "What was what like, my dear?" The grey-haired lady who sat next to the girls bed replied. "The ocean, Granny! What was it like before all this?" Another child answered, who looked a couple years older than the little girl as she too settled in her bed.

A National Geographic Contest Short Story The year is 2050 and the Earth's Oceans have changed dramatically. We find ourselves reflecting on the Ocean's current state at a museum's exhibit "Modern Day Ocean." Prepare to read the drastic effects of pollution and neglect to our beautiful environment, unless we do something to stop it. This is: The Ocean Exhibit. #PlanetOrPlastic

This short story enables the reader to peer into the thoughts of Aquia the manta ray as she reminisces of the times when the ocean was actually habitable. #PlanetOrPlastic

It's important to take a small step than not walking at all. It's important to do something than nothing at all. Lets not take giant leap but small steps towards cleaning our HOME EARTH. BASED on TRUE EVENTS

I wrote this for the National Geographic Planet or Plastic? writing contest. The short story blends storytelling and poetry in an attempt to convey a strong message of despair and hope in relation to the current situation of our planet and the possible future. Sometimes we only realize beauty once it's gone. But it only takes one moment of compassion to make a a lifetime of difference. And to me, that is what my story is about.

A story of our potential future

I remember when I was young, I would always go to this tranquil place and enjoy my peace as I watched the sunset over the horizon as it was reflected by the ocean. It was those vivid days that brings me back to my senses every time I come back to it. It's already slipping past my mind but I'm trying as hard as I could to picture that scene as clear as I can lest I forget. But how could I?
