Viewer discretion advised; this book is about struggling with high school and mental illness.
(The name of the book is a work in progress and I'm still learning so please correct me on any grammatical or syntax errors.)
Aspen Robinson-Carter is just trying to keep up with life. Through sophomore and junior year, Aspen holds onto the things that keep them safe: the sound of the theater, the comfort of their friends but still grades, theater tech, late-night overthinking, gender identity, love, mental illness, and the thought of growing up creep beneath them, constantly dragging them down, trying to pull them under water. Trying to drown them out.
The letters Aspen wrote talk about everything they couldn't say out loud, everything they wanted to say but couldn't, everything that might've saved them, anything that made them feel more alive or made them feel dead. The letters encompassed the life that is Aspen Robinson-Carter.
Told through a series of letters, The Person I Write To At Night: The Boy In My Shadows is a book about growing up, life becoming unrecognizable, and the constant fear that your ending is sooner than you thought, before your final page.
