Over four years at the National College of Science and Technology (NCST) in Dasmariñas, Rian Joyce Revino's primary focus was maintaining her academic standing as a Bachelor of Secondary Education student, majoring in Social Studies. Her world revolved around lesson plans, curriculum guides, and historical theories, leaving little room for unexpected distractions. That changed during their major subject on Philippine History and Society, when a department-wide collaborative research project paired her with Jaymie Charles Viago, a fellow BSEd Social Studies major. Jaymie was hard to ignore. As the son of a government employee and a seaman, his background gave him a sharp, opinionated take on social issues, making him stand out in every recitations. Most classmates considered him ill-tempered, aloof, and impossible to approach, but behind his guarded exterior was a dedication to the field that matched Rian's own. What started as tense late-night study sessions and debates over historical perspectives slowly shifted into an unscripted connection, throwing both of their carefully laid out plans for college-and the future-completely off track.
