Hey! This story is focused around andreil and takes place throughout the current story. Starting Christmas break in The Raven Cycle. What if Riko managed to break Neil? Neil is left shattered from his time at the Nest. Andrew is there to pick up the pieces and will do anything to protect Neil from experiencing anything like he had before. Andrew and Neil understand eachother more than they ever thought they could and learn how to heal from the past through eachother. Andrew knew pain all too well. His little injury wasn't anything he couldn't overcome, the people treating him, on the other hand, he wasn't so sure. His entire adult life was made of clear boundaries carved in stone, anyone daring to cross them will get punched in the face without a second thought. One evening he ends up in a hospital, there are hands all over him, people tell him to calm down, that they want to help, that they mean no harm. None of their voices matter, all that matters is their hands, touching. But then a rude, bossy man comes- either a doctor or a nurse, and shoos everyone away, he puts his foot down and gives a hard time to anyone trying to argue without batting an eye. Andrew couldn't figure him out, he was a mystery he couldn't solve, and it made him more then a little bit uncomfortable. It was irritating. Andrew was always two steps ahead, he could always read people, know their intentions before they spoke. He swore to himself that he was going to solve the man. He wasn't expecting him to do the same.

"I didn't plan on leaving," his voice was raspy because of how little he used it. Pointedly, he stared at the tanned hand still grasping his own, it was scarred, as Andrew noticed. "I felt more like you were about to punch me," Andrew felt a funny feeling tingle down his back when he heard the honeylike voice for the first time. Or, as I told a friend of mine: 2.5k words of Andrew being in love with just the slightest touch of angst.

When Wymack goes to recruit Neil, instead of gratitude for showing interest in a kid that the rest of the world had written off as a lost cause, he gets hit with an ultimatum: "You have to take him too," He'd said "It's a two-for-one deal. He won't even argue, I promise." Judging by Coach Hernandez's shocked and mildly pissed-off look, he hadn't been expecting it either. Wymack wasn't a man who liked to be deceived. He'd just spent the last twenty minutes trying to convince a kid to join his team, and before he'd even signed the papers he was trying to cut a deal with him. Well, one thing was for sure, the kid had balls. Major balls. Wymack threw a quick glance over to Neil's soon-to-be former coach, all he got in response though, was a light shrug as his brain struggled to catch up to what was happening. "Well..." Kevin wouldn't like this, and Andrew would probably hate it even more, but the two had also said they needed Neil. 'No matter what'. Had been Kevin's words. What else was he supposed to do? "Is he any good?" He asked tiredly. Being met with silence was much more worrying than it should have been.

Neil decided it was a brilliant idea to bring a surprise home to the dorms. Short story (technically completed, but I'll probably add to it)
