Elliot Park had never been good at talking to people. Words jumble in his head, his thoughts run faster than his mouth, and he's convinced he was just not built for casual conversation. Which is why, when he gets paired with Hazel Moreno-the sunshine of their high school, beloved by all-he prepares for an absolute disaster.
Hazel, on the other hand, doesn't believe in awkward silences. She believes in doodles on desks, impromptu dance breaks, and making sure everyone feels seen. And upon taking notice that Elliot struggles with talking, she begun leaving him little Post-it notes-just small things, like "Nice work today!" or "Your handwriting is cool :D."
At first, Elliot thinks she's just being polite. But when he starts leaving notes back-short, hesitant ones, like "You too" or "Thanks, I guess"-it becomes their thing. Their own little secret.
Soon, Post-it notes turn into longer letters, tucked into lockers and slipped between the pages of textbooks. Inside jokes scribbled during class. Tiny paper cranes left at desks. And before either of them can really acknowledge it, they're communicating more through paper than they do out loud.
But how long can you fall for someone in writing before you want to say it out loud? And when Elliot finally builds up the courage to confess-pen in hand, a Post-it waiting-will Hazel beat him to it?
