A sunflower in a field of roses-that is how Dala always describes herself. She sees herself as plain, a bright but unremarkable bloom surrounded by the elegance of others. Yet, she has always felt fundamentally different, defined by a personal history that sets her apart.
At twenty-two, she has never attended a party, tasted alcohol, or shared a kiss. She has never known the complications of a boyfriend or even a casual fling; the idea that someone would find her magnetic feels like a foreign concept.
At work, however, she is a force. As a young newly-hired finance analyst, she recently flew to Singapore and delivered a high-stakes, data-driven pitch that secured one of their company's biggest international clients.
When the company organizes a post-success celebration, Dala makes a sudden, courageous decision: she is going to step outside her comfort zone, pour a drink, and finally let her guard down.
But the night descends into chaos when she finds herself in a "one-night stand gone wrong" with a reckless, incredibly attractive carefree young man-who just happens to be the secret son of her own CEO.
It is, to put it mildly, an absolute train wreck. And Dala is right in the middle of it.
Pretty messed up, I may say. Pretty messed up, indeed.
