Rayne was only 15 when the ship carrying her and her parents was swallowed by the waves. Washed up on the shore of an island far from home, Rayne finds herself without friends in an unfamiliar world. The two begin their journey across the Archipelago, searching for Rayne's home, but unknownly getting farther away. However, they farther they go, the more they find truths Rayne would rather not know, and enemies she didn't create. After being rescued by people who called themselves Grimborns, Rayne finds herself confused about their true motive. By the time she has recovered, she had decided to join Krom Grimborn in his attempt to rid the Archipelago of his dragon-slaughtering enemies, the Dragon Riders.
