One Evening, One Old Friend is a light-hearted and heartfelt poem about friendship, relationships, and finding joy in the simplest moments. Through Yash's unexpected movie evening with his old friend Rahul, the poem explores how easily we can become caught up in relationships, family responsibilities, and everyday life-and forget to make time for the friends who have always been part of our journey. Sometimes, all it takes is one movie, some popcorn, and an old friend to remind us that happiness can be found in the simplest of evenings. ❤️🍿✨ A poem about friendship, memories, and the beautiful reminder that life has more than one kind of outing. About the Author I am Lavanya Y. Rao, a new writer who has recently started exploring the world of poetry. Writing poems is a new journey for me, and with every poem, I am discovering new ways to turn simple thoughts, conversations, and everyday moments into words. The inspiration for "One Evening, One Old Friend" came from a conversation I had with a friend one morning. Something we spoke about stayed in my mind and slowly became the little spark behind this poem. I took that simple thought and imagined it as a story about friendship, everyday life, and the importance of making time for the people who have been a part of our lives. I am still learning, experimenting, and finding my own voice as a writer. I hope that through my poems, readers can find something familiar, meaningful, or simply comforting in the little stories I share. Thank you for taking the time to read my work and be a part of my journey as a new writer. ❤️ Please do Vote and Comment on my poem.

I was a black rose with many thorns You plucked me and now all I have left are my thorns But I can't help but think that you plucked me out because I am special to you, because I was a rare rose to find Because no one wants daisies that they find everywhere planted but a rare black rose But even though you've plucked me out I still grow LIKE A BLACK ROSE. Hi, it's been a while since I've written anything and this book is a poetry collection book that I intend on entering in the 2019 wattys, I hope you all enjoy reading these poems.

i stopped writing because i didn't think any of it was good enough but i want to remind myself of my worth. so here i am. i want to tell you, yes you, the two people who are probably reading this, that i want to grow like the succulents that grow by my window. this is my work, my poetry and my writing. this is how i feel and what i have experienced. these are the big things and the small things. this is everything, this is what makes me, me.

This is a collection of the poetry that I have written and been writing since around about October 2018. Naturally, not every poem has been of a decent enough standard to be included here, but the ones that have been included are the ones that I like the best, for a variety of reasons. Though it is simply a matter of my own personal taste, I am not so conceited as to claim that they are works of genius, and can recognise that I still have a lot of improvement to make to my writing. Please don't expect a masterpiece. Every single one of these poems is based in reality, meaning that no matter how fantastical or absurd they might seem, they all include a modicum of truth in them as relates to my own experiences. Many of the poems are inspired by people that I know or have known and many of them take stylistic inspiration from poets and poetry that I admire. A lot of the poetry in this anthology is based on subjects that fascinate and affect me personally. One rather prominent example of this would be the subject of Love. Another would be People. I try to relate the world as I see it through the poetic medium, writing of only the things that I know, can comprehend or imagine. Thus, every poem here, regardless of quality, is highly personal to me. I can only hope that while the poems are about my own unique and individual experiences, emotions, thoughts, perceptions and so on, they remain accessible and maybe even enjoyable to others. To quote Martin Amis, "Every writer hopes or boldly assumes that his life is in some sense exemplary, that the particular will turn out to be universal". Any opinions are appreciated.
