The Narrator is not a person. It is the Silence.
Born in the three-second gap between a final heartbeat and a first scream, the Silence of the Vance estate has spent eighty years witnessing what the living cannot hear. It does not understand words-only the vibration of vocal cords, the displacement of air, and the crushing pressure of secrets left unsaid.
To the family living within its walls, the Silence is an absence. To the Silence, the family is a series of violent disturbances in a world made of dust and stillness.
But when a letter is unsealed and a decades-old lie begins to vibrate through the floorboards, the Silence realizes it is no longer a passive observer. As the tension in the house reaches a breaking point, the Silence must find a way to do the one thing that will destroy its own existence:
It must make itself heard.
