Jaime Kelly, also known as "Books", is the leader of the Lower Manhattan Newsies. She loves her Newsies like they're her family. Every 8 Days she goes to see her best friend, Spot, the "King of Brooklyn". Everything seems to be going pretty normal until one day when she and her brother, Jack, start a strike against "The World". But what happens when memories of her past starts to resurface? And what happens when she makes a bet with " King Idiot" that in 8 days he could get her to say 8 letters? Note: ALL CHARACTERS MENTIONED IN THE 1992 FILM BELONG TO DISNEY. Mattie Swanson was a voice lost in the crowded world. Matty 'Scrub' Carr was the feared leader of the Bronx Newsies. When the famous Newsboys Strike of 1899 comes knocking courtesy of 'Cowboy' Jack Kelly, the fearless leader of the Bronx is forced to show New York who she really is and what she is made of. Mattie Swanson never wanted love - she didn't need a giant love story to make her feel worthy - but she's going to find out that love has the habit of forming in even the most determined of hearts. Mattie Swanson forced herself to forget family but she might just find out that family is the most important thing we have. All her life Mattie had been knocked down, now she's fighting to stay standing.

Spot and Race have been seeing each other since the end of the strike now in secret. It was their little secret, Nobody dared to question why Race was the only non-Brooklyn newsie who was allowed to sell in Brooklyn, why race would get caught in Brooklyn late at night because he was 'gambling' too long or it started to rain out and and he'd have to stay the night in the Brooklyn lodging house, why Race is the only person who could get Spot to show his soft side. Jack and Juliette Kelly are attached at the hip. After the death of their mother and the arrest of their father, they only had each other. Until they became newsies. Then, their whole lives changed. Since becoming newsies, they found themselves a family. But they both share a dream, to leave New York and find a life in Santa Fe. (WIP, NOT FINISHED YET)

Jack Kelly found an orphaned teenage girl named Abby Taylor on the street after selling newspapers. He ends up taking her to the newsboys' lodging house and teaches her to become a newsie. What will happen when the two start to fall in love with each other as a strike begins? (This is based of off the 1992 Newsies film.)

Dash hasn't been living in New York for very long, and life in the big city is extremely different compared to her small town in Appalachia. She feels so much more at home among the hustle and bustle, and over the last several months has befriended her fellow Manhattan newsies, as well as a few across the other boroughs. There's one newsie, however, that she can't help butting heads with; her impatient, childish nature clashes with his frustratingly serious disposition, and the two find themselves competing against one another constantly. When things get taken a step too far, will they be able to come to an understanding? A/N: This is my first published work in over a decade, and I'm so excited to share it with everyone! Dash is my oldest and most treasured oc, and I'm so happy that I finally have the confidence to allow everyone else a peek into her life. This was originally supposed to be a short one shot, but is now going to be a 2(?) part series. I will hopefully be posting more work in the future that explores more of her background, as well as introducing some of my other oc's. Enjoy the story!
