As I run down the dark corridor, I stop to catch my breath. My vivid orange eyes dart around the hallway I've chosen as my escape from the team pursuing me. A holler resounds behind me, and I dash into the nearest room, trying to keep my footsteps light and quick. The cold weight of the gun in my hands feels familiar, and I take off my signature leather jacket to stuff under the door. Underneath, I wear the outfit that all 5th year trainees wear: A black tank-top with black pants and combat boots. Silently, I reach for the light pad and turn on the lights. Looking around, I take in my surroundings. The room is about 30 meters both in length and width with a small glass observation window separating this room from the next. The room is approximately 120 meters high, give or take a meter. My eyes aren't perfect, but given the choice between my eyes and human eyes, I'll keep my eyes any day. ---------------------------------------------------- Just a heads up, as soon as I finish editing the parts already written for this story, I will be putting it on hold indefinitely. "The Shattered Earth", takes place after a global catastrophe decimates over 90 percent of the world's population and transmutes the remaining humans into something other entirely. One of the heroes in this story is half cat and the other is half bird... Talk about an odd couple... Their quest leads them through many twists and perils as they seek to uncover the cause of these unimaginable end times and leads them to a possible cure. Many characters are introduced throughout, each with their own reasons for being worthy allies or opponents. I've categorized this as Science Fiction, but it is very much a combination of that and Fantasy as well as Paranormal, Adventure and Anthropomorphic! Side note: The paranormal is referring to the Gaia Virus that is attacking the spirits of the Earth Post Apocalyptic , Abstinence
