When newt was a mere 15 and thomas 14, newt confessed how he felt to his best friend Thomas Edison on his birthday, however, not feeling the same way Thomas asks newt to promise him something, "Promise me," (...) "promise me you won't like me as more than a friend, ever." 2 years pass, they are both in eleventh grade, Thomas is 16 and newt is 17, and Thomas finds that he broke his own promise. "He had been so stupid. That was the night he knew he liked newt. It happened right after the boy ran off. Thomas was left standing there, wondering why his heart hurt so much. That was when he realized his mistake. But he promised newt. And so he never said anything." Psychotherapy helps him very little, and so Thomas has the most beautiful flashbacks everyday.

'Okay, okay. I did something dumb, Teresa.' 'I-' 'Before you say it's a daily occurrence, it involved books.' -- Thomas Murphy wasn't a romantic, per se. Love was a complicated thing, you see, and especially when it came to soulmates. He didn't necessarily need to find his soulmate, but when finding them was practically a promise of fairytale-like love, he'd preferred to look for them. Of course, this wasn't to say he was going to go out of his way to find them. Of course not. Newt Isaacs wanted the fairytale ending more so. He wished of finding his soulmate, being able to wake up beside them, kiss them, love them. He hadn't been able to find his missing half for over 3 years, but, well, when he leaves an anonymous note in a book, maybe it'd all change for the better.

newt also known as cry baby. newt was practically living in a doll house, outside everything seemed perfectly fine, but inside everything was falling apart. his mother being a drunk slut, his father the cheater son of a bitch and lizzy, the innocent sister who couldn't do anything about it. that was his life for sixteen years, but then thomas appeared in his life and everything changed. he couldn't tell if it was happiness or something else. When he meets Chuck, things start turning upright. When he meets Minho, things get better. Meeting Alby makes him confident. Meeting Thomas makes this seem not so bad after all. What happens when Ava and Janson pressure Thomas to make the maze to see how they survive? Will it seem like a friendly environment still?
