"I am a police officer, I didn't sign up for this, seriously this was not in my training" Officer Jamie Xané has just started on the job and is sure to do everything by the book,but she's haunted by the man she was forced to kill on the first day of the job. She thinks she can move past it until she is kidnapped because of a USB that went missing and was last seen on the man she killed. She is now forced to dig deep in search of something which she does not know why is so important in order to protect her daughter while trying to be the best police officer. But somehow this USB is nearly impossible to find. She is yet to discover hidden secrets that were not meant to be found and do things she never thought possible on the line of duty. She was never prepared for something she wasn't trained to do.

It takes place on the American west coast. It features an Asian-American Bennet family living in a small city outside of Seattle. It has very similar plot points to the original, but adapted to a modern setting. However, I don't think you need to have read Pride & Prejudice to read this! What happens when you open your eyes to see nothing but crimson flames surrounding your home? What do you feel when you run past burnt corpses of your beloved ones? "Fleeing from the flames" is written in such a way to allow the reader to literally imagine what the animals and wildlife felt when going through the recent bushfires, that must have been a vision depicting hell.

While cleaning out the attic on the first day of spring (because her mom Catherine put it on the calendar, which is the only way to get anything done), Josie finds a beautiful pink dress that belonged to her grandmother. It would have been the perfect thing to wear to the Spring Fling, an annual event that she and her moms always enjoyed with her Gramps. But there's no dance this year, since the whole world is shut down because of COVID-19, a pandemic virus. When Rebecca wakes up in the hospital she discovers that she was in a terrible car accident and has been in a coma for nearly four years. Everything has changed in those four years. Her parents have divorced, her best friend died in the crash and all her friends have finished high school. How will she be able to adapt to her new life.

A guy was sitting on the beach, the waves lapping at his feet and the occasional breeze that swept his hair off his face and then back to his face again. Tiny drops of rain began to fall, starting with a drizzle and gradually increasing in intensity until you couldn't see anything within a two metre radius of yourself. Sebastian liked the rain. He liked the after smell of the rain, the sound that it made and they effect it had on the things around him. He loved how it blurred his vision until he couldn't tell whether it was the rain or his tears. The beach was a whole new thing when it rained. The soft sand that usually slipped through his fingers would now stick to his skin. The waves would crash with more vigour than usual. And there would be no one is sight. He didn't notice when someone else came and sat beside him. He almost didn't notice when a bottle of gin was pushed into his hand and he drank. He drank until the bottle was finished and the rain was finally slowing down. Or maybe it was just him. He rubbed at his eyes with the back of his hand and looked and the person sitting next to him. He only managed to get a quick look of his eyes before their lips crashed. His eyes were blue. As blue as the ocean when it rained. And hence he would always remember him as the guy at the beach.
