Elise Warren has always been fascinated by things that frighten other people. The abandoned lots behind her apartment. Dead-end roads swallowed by fog. Old carnival posters peeling from brick walls downtown. Ever since her mother disappeared three years earlier, Elise has lived inside a constant ache-one that her distant father refuses to acknowledge and her quiet town has long since forgotten. So when she sees a crimson-and-gold flyer pinned beneath her windshield wiper one rainy October night, she feels something she hasn't felt in years: Called. *THE NOCTURNE CIRCUS* *One Night Only.* No address. No ticket booth. Only a black ink illustration of a grinning clown with hollow eyes and the words: *Come find what was lost.* Desperate to escape her life for just one evening, Elise follows the flyer's directions deep into the woods beyond town. There, hidden between twisted trees and thick silver fog, stands a circus that shouldn't exist. The tents breathe as if alive. The carousel horses blink when no one is looking. And none of the performers seem entirely human. At first, the Nocturne Circus feels magical-an impossible world of glowing mirrors, fortune tellers who know her secrets, and acrobats floating through the air like puppets without strings. But Elise quickly realizes the circus is less a performance and more a labyrinth. Time bends strangely inside the grounds. Guests vanish between tents. Laughter echoes from places where no mouths move. Worst of all, the Ringmaster seems to know her. Elegant, smiling, and terrifyingly calm, he tells Elise the circus appears only for people desperate enough to step inside-and it never lets them leave unchanged. Each tent forces her deeper into a surreal nightmare stitched together from her memories, fears, and grief. A ballroom where dancers wear porcelain masks shaped like her mother's face. A maze of mirrors showing versions of Elise who made different choices. A tea party attended by silent children with stitche

My friend was traveling, and asked me to tell her a story over the phone,he was traveling, and this was what I told her: . . . . . Yes, I am aware there is a book out there titled "Night Circus".... I read it. This isn't the same. It's based off it, and the begining may be similar (especially the tent), but it's a short story I told my friend that is essentially not even close to the same.

He faces me, limbs trembling. His face is pale, eyes wild. I can't do this. I can't fight my best friend. 'No', I think, but why is it so difficult to say it out loud? The crowd is growing restless by the minute, screaming for us to fight. But I can't do that. "Sunny," I say, my voice drowned by the noise. "We have to do it. It's now or never!" Sunny's expression changes to that of determination. An illusion is already beginning to form. As I watch, his lips shape the words he can't say aloud. Run. ***** The Arena of Insanity. A place where those with special powers go, those who are considered to be out of their minds. But these "insane" people are put down through bloody battles they must wage to survive the days. Crimson and Sunny are two such inmates in the Arena. However, the fateful day arrives that one must kill the other. Is it possible for one to escape the Arena? Find out in AOI.
