The story follows two preteen sisters who live across the street from their longtime friend. They are told not to look next door because "years ago, something happened there" Their Aunt Ginny is the only person who knows what happened, but won't tell them. Amy and Rose's dog comes back without a scratch after being missing for a few days. Their dog didn't disappear because Aunt Ginny took it, it went to the home next door. The story ends with a twist: the girls go next door to get their dog back, and see Aunt Ginny holding another dog.
