Unaware of her heritage and the connections she might had Meixiu grew up in the Gusu as the daughter of the bookkeeper. She was found of the books since the early age and never thought that it will bring her to cross the path with members of Lan Sect. When her father suddenly became seriously ill and with not much of the time left Meixiu has no choice but to travel to the Cloud Recesses to seek the help from the healers. Without a pass her access to enter to the Cloud Recesses was denied at the spot. Not wanting to return and go back Meixiu decided to remain where she was determined to find way to get inside. Unaware of the elements as the winter was approaching and days grew short and nights cold she soon succumbed to the cold and illness. The potential to survive was slim until she was found by Lan Zhan brought her inside to recover from the illness. When the pedant bearing the symbol of Lan Sect was discovered in her possession more questions seemed to rise up. If this girl was Lan then how come no one knew of that until now?
