In a kingdom where even silence carries history, winter arrived far too early that year. The nights grew colder. The palace doors remained shut. Nikkō lives in a small village and regularly does trade with another village in the mountains. One day, on her way back home, she is rescued from falling by a mysterious boy with a mask and a squirrel. Over several years, the two become friends and the boy -who had previously introduced himself only as "Seiryuu"- is given a name. However, Nikkō's father, the only family she has left, becomes desperately ill and she has to stay and take care of him. Will Nikkō ever see Shin-Ah again?
