Just as Nya guides her brother to the living room couch, he drifts off into, a very much needed, sleep. This oneshot/short story is a small branch off of a Ninjago lava fiction of Stone to Fire. It takes place in chapter 8: A Baked Apology.

After the death of one of Ninjago's most beloved ninja, Kai makes the hard choice to leave the monastery and hero life behind to give his daughter a chance at a normal life.. away from chaos and destruction. The following story is fiction and takes place well after Dragon's Rising, setting Kai somewhere in his late 20s.

It's a wonderful day in Jamanakai city. Kai's plans for the day are to deliver a sword, get the loaded payment, buy necessities and potatoes to bake, go home, and take a rest. The last two have scratched off however, and it's all courtesy to this guy he comes across too; he's really tall, busting with muscles, owns a pretty pair of big eyes with green irises, and wears a damn charming smile. Everything goes upside down after that. Suddenly, before the gods could spare a blink, Kai is aboard a pirate ship with people he least expected to be with. Kai makes terrible plans, but this trip has got to be the worst yet as he literally fights for his life against one or two fellow mythical creatures. He's also fighting for his troubling heart, as the same guy who ruined his life never fails to skyrocket his heart rate through the sky, and churn his stomach like a towel being twisted into a rope. The first day they met was already stressful, let alone the following ones.
