Sometimes things happen for a reason. You're fired from your job. You get broken up with. Or you just.. die. One or the other. Now when you wake up as the Grand Regent Mark. You tend not to lose your shit. Because now you're the leader of the Viltrum Empire. You're the strongest person in the universe. So why not have a little.. fun with it, eh?

When a random couple is plucked from their world, they are met by the Nimue, Goddess of Rebirth, she gives them a choice. To be anyone that they want. In exchange, they'd get thrown into a random universe of her choosing. And that universe would just so happen to be.. the Invincible one.

Getting beat half to death by your Dad is bad on its own but being stuck in an alternate universe and forced to join a task force on top of that was even worse. Or, Mark somehow gets teleported to the DC universe and ends up becoming a member of the Suicide Squad as a result.

In this AU, the Viltrumites and Gem society coexist. But to expand their respective empires, they have to colonize planets. So this is bound to cause tension, so they are enemy alien races. (NOTE: The Diamonds are still the most powerful beings in the universe in this AU.) So while at war, they capture each other's soldiers. Viltrumites just shatter captives because they don't really need them, but Gems don't. They put the captured Viltrumites in like a human zoo of sorts, and this causes Viltrumites to be born into Gem society. Nolan is one of these Viltrumites born into captivity, and he's a strong fighter, and he was personally taught in Yellow Diamond's court. (NOTE: The reason Viltrumites are useful to Gems is because they are organic and just more durable.) Now onto the actual story. After Pink breaks her first Pearl, Yellow and Blue think she still needs a helper, but it can't be something that she can break with a scream (basically not a Gem). So Yellow and Blue pick Nolan to basically act as a Pearl/personal bodyguard to Pink whilst she doesn't have a Pearl.

This is an Invincible x reader story, but as in the entire series, not Invincible himself (sorry, but there will still be a lot of fun times with you two) After Mark gets his powers, Mr. Grayson starts to act oddly.
