The Starry Night is an oil on canvas by the Dutch post-impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh. Painted in June 1889, it describes the view from the east-facing window of his asylum room at Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, just before sunrise, with the addition of an ideal village.[1][2][3] It has been in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City since 1941, acquired through the Lillie P. Bliss Bequest. Regarded as among Van Gogh's finest works,[4] The Starry Night is one of the most recognized paintings in the history of Western culture.[5][6]

Liberato is based on a real life story of a handicapped son who struggled to win the love of his parents especially of his father. The series of events will squeeze the readers heart as Liberato surmounts every trial that every father and son are facing as of today.

This is a travelogue/memoir through space and time, from the seaside resorts of Whitley Bay and Tynemouth and the shipyards of the river Tyne in my childhood years of the 1950's and 1960's, to the 19th century coalfields of County Durham and on to the smugglers and coastguards of the far north east coast. I enlist the help of my ancestors, my genetic memories and a host of characters encountered on the way to help me discover if my northern blood sings to me of home. It is a light, humourous adventure, with a sprinkling of existential thoughts for good measure. Comments in the margins are welcome, and if you like it please do vote!
