This is a different version of Bates Motel, starting with Norma right after she has married Sam Bates. The story is better than the description.

A few members of the cast of Bates Motel get sent to the universe of the series itself. They face obstacles of getting to know their character and having to think like them while trying to figure out who is an actor and who is from WPB. The story is better than the summary.

Norma never had a chance. Life snuck up on her, taking away the innocence that she cherished. She has an ex husband and a son who hate her, a baby who cries for her, and a husband who insults her at every turn. Moving was the only option. A sort of Bates Motel AU. Trigger warnings added. She and her two sons fend for themselves for the most part until a certain dark eyed man changes their world. I thought of this idea whilst watching Boy In The Striped Pajamas if that says anything.

Sheriff Romero starts to develop feelings for Norma Bates whom he has been drawn to since they met 3 years ago. Their evolving friendship starts to compromise when he finds out she has been lying to him.

The love (mostly physical if written) between Alex and Norma (without Norman in the way, thank god) (Aligning with Bates Motel the TV series, "What You Never Saw" is written as an attempt to fill in the gaps that were never captured on screen, smut included ;)) I am so sorry about the quality of this, creative writing has never been my strong suit...

Married life with Alex is going great, better than great, the motel is successful and life in general seems to be on the up for Norma until she meets a fiery young girl with the weight of the world on her shoulders and several dark secrets that could scare off anyone, but not Norma, she doesn't scare easily. This is a story of unlikely friendships, unbreakable bonds, hardships, pain, love, compassion and hope. Not my usual type of story, but something a little new. I'm testing the waters to see what people think of this! So feedback would mean a lot! (I've not forgotten my other stories! They are being worked on too!)
