James Norrington tried to sail through a hurricane in pursuit of the Black Pearl, and was the sole survivor. Now the wreck of his ship and loss of his crew weigh heavily upon him.

James Norrington went from a successful and rich Commodore in the Royal Navy, to a drunken, bitter and dishevelled deckhand pirate...until he found an opportunity to regain his career by delivering the heart of Davy Jones to Lord Cutler Beckett. But by doing so, Norrington lost his honour even more. He became an Admiral in the EITC, but realized too late that Beckett was a corrupt maniac, and killed the father of the love of his life. Once again, Norrington found a way to regain his honour, whether or not he was on the side of the angels, and to make up for the loss of Governor Swann by saving his daughter, Elizabeth Swann from Beckett and Jones' clutches. Sadly, this cost the Admiral his life...was he remembered? Was he ever loved? What became of him in death?

Of course, Olivia is taken to Port Royal's garrison with the rest of the pirate crew because of her obvious connections to piracy, but she claims innocence to the charges. Will Norrington come to trust her word and help her escape her old life? Or will his vendetta against pirates get in the way? And if he does believe her, will anyone else in Port Royal society? Or will she be forced back into a wretched life on the Caribbean high seas?

And once Jack gets what he needed in order to survive with the Black Pearl and his beloved Aubrey Barbossa/Sparrow, Norrington takes it away and gives it to Lord Cutler Beckett and the Letters of Marque which were meant for Jack to give him and Aubrey a royal pardon. Not only did Norrington become part of the navy again but Lord Beckett gained control of Davy Jones and the Seas.
