Imagine being somewhere you know so well. Suddenly, the lights are turned off and you don't recognize where you are. That's how going back to Cairo for vacation felt for Nour. The thirteen year old has been dreaming for over two years of the moment she goes back home. Thing is, home didn't feel like home anymore. It's true that the building she used to live in was still the same, but its inhabitants were far from being the same. Her best friends were acting in ways she couldn't understand. Out of nowhere, she found herself thrusted in the middle of a jumble of endless problems. Every time she tried to help, things only kept getting out of hand. In the middle of all the chaos, a rhythm she didn't understand was starting to play within her heart. If only it remained within her heart, maybe she would've gotten herself into less trouble. Story of five friends graduating from high school on the eve of World War II, and their interwoven lives during the war and post war years.

December 5, 1961, Dr. Frantz Fanon, a.k.a., Ibrahim Fanon, psychiatrist from Martinique, Algerian revolutionary, author of The Wretched of the Earth, is lying in a hospital bed in room 37 of the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. He first went to Moscow for treatment but was told that NIH was the preeminent facility for his type of cancer. He's thirty-six years old. The day of his death on December 6, he's reflecting on what his revolutionary activities have taught him.

It was cold day in early November. The low sun colored the old high school walls with faint yellow. Was it August, the sun would have vapored the decayed paints of those walls. Students however, sat or stood where the low November sun shone. They acted like flies. Was it fall, was it winter, was it spring, was it summer, Fairuz would sit beneath the shades of the old olive tree. The sun did indeed penetrate the cloud of leaves the old olive tree have. However, the invasion was incomplete, as the shade of the leaves, and the scattered sun light turned Fairuz into a cheetah. Fairuz Lakhdar, however, did not care about this two thousand year old conflict. She was listening to Rouh el Hajjala. A jazz band from Ben Arous. She liked their fast rhythm and enjoyed seeing the students at the recess turn into wooden cubes and form a tornado. They became a zarboot . The zarboot soon returned to be a wooden cubes tornado then students leaving the sunny spots. Fairuz pulled the headphone from its soil. The black screen reflected her face as if it was the surface of a pond. A rounded face, a short black hair that almost showed her ears, a rosy skin, and what seemed to be the facial features of a roman statue (two brown galaxies, not two grey voids). She threw the headphone into the depths of her jeans pocket and conducted herself to the classroom. "When would spring come? ˮ She murmured.

Nada slowly falls down to the ground, miles away from the fight landing in a forest. The glow around her settles down and the symbols on her face and body fade away. Ever since she discovered that she had these abilities she felt like there was more to her story Ofcourse what are the odds that a normal girl from Chicago possessed the same kind of tribal powers as the natives from the Atlas Mountains. But this? This was far bigger than she could've ever imagined... In this story we follow Nada, a girl from Chicago that just found out her birth parents are from North Africa. together with her best friend Nyx she explores her heritage and finds new and unexpected friends. hoping to find answers about her past she uncovers a whole new world.
