Dreamgates is a project that I have been working on for years now. An idea that has exploded into many branching concepts that I don't think I've seen anyone put together in a story before. It has its ties to the internet based urban legend known as the Backrooms, but takes a mighty big twist on the concept. Simply because 1). I of course want to write an original story, and 2). It has grown beyond simply existing in a world of liminal spaces and has grown as I have grown. I have always seen people argue whether or not the Backrooms should have monsters in it. Keep the liminality! The psychological horror is where it stands the strongest! And I agree to an extent. Dreamgates will have both, in balance, but aside from being a horror story- it will be heavily character driven. A sci fi fantasy mystery. A deep look into philosophy and culture and the fate of the universe. It will be mind bending. A survival game. A battle royale. A hunt. And a show. A world full of dark horrors both man and monster. A world full of light and hope, seeking a new purpose in life. This is Dreamgates in every way and more. I welcome you to enjoy the read~

In a hidden corner of an ordinary town exists a strange, half-forgotten place where objects that carry memories slowly awaken. Old playground equipment, antique trinkets, fast-food containers, mirrors, lunchboxes, music boxes, and neon toys begin to develop personalities, emotions, and lives of their own. Each object reflects the memories, aesthetics, and moods that shaped them over time. At the heart of the story is a quiet backyard where Rim Bloom, a weathered basketball hoop surrounded by vines and sunlight, lives a peaceful routine of practice shots and shadow poems.

In the seemingly perfect town of Willowbay, every day feels like a memory worth keeping. Vintage diners glow beneath golden sunsets. Summer festivals bring the community together. The town appears frozen in an idealized past where life is simple and comforting. When the Founder's Lantern mysteriously disappears during the annual Summer Festival, a group of friends-Hydrosync, Paradox Pin, Fizzline, Starwave, and others-begin investigating what appears to be a harmless local mystery. Instead, they uncover something impossible. Strange glitches begin appearing throughout town. Old photographs change when nobody is looking. Forgotten buildings appear on maps before vanishing again. People start remembering events that never happened. Then the disappearances begin. As the mystery deepens, the group discovers that Willowbay is hiding a horrifying secret buried beneath decades of memories. A mysterious phenomenon known only as Yesterday.exe is corrupting reality itself, feeding on nostalgia and rewriting the past. The town's comforting appearance is merely a mask. Beneath it lies a decaying world filled with restless ghosts, distorted creatures, corrupted memories, and the remnants of people who were erased from existence but somehow refuse to stay gone. As reality continues to break apart, the line between memory and truth begins to disappear. And the greatest horror may not be what Willowbay is becoming- -but what it once was.

Y/N is a very isolated and antisocial person who gets little to no care from their family, causing them to feel misunderstood and lonely leaving them with nothing but their thoughts. All is the same every day. Every single day is the same routine. That is, until they find out about an area they can go to. Somewhere they can go to when they're lonely. somewhere they can melt into mush and forget the world. Somewhere that's new everyday.

So amnesia is a story/video game I'm making. Amnesia tells the story of Robyn, they wake up one night to get a midnight snack. They end up being transported to a world where they end up meeting creatures who are actually dead and if Robyn doesn't escape they will die. (Robyn is non binary and uses they/them pronouns by the way and they look like a girl but isn't.) they end up meeting zero. A monster that only wants to be their friend and he actually ends up possibly falling in love with them. TW: this story mentions: suicide, self harm, death, blood, possession, gore, abuse, and derealization. This is based off of the dreamcore/Weirdcore aesthetic on tiktok. And if any of the topics in this story are too much for you, I suggest you dont read this story.
