Passing as a beta is supposed to make that easier, keeping people at a safe enough distance that no one can look too closely. Instead, Blue Lock gives him things he hadn't planned for. Bachira becomes a friend before Isagi really knows how to stop it, the team begins to feel less temporary, and somewhere in the middle of all that is Itoshi Rin, with cold teal eyes, the faint scent of rain, and a presence Isagi finds increasingly difficult to ignore. The longer he stays, the more Blue Lock starts to feel like somewhere he might actually belong. And with that comes a guilt he hadn't expected, because every new friendship, every moment of trust, makes the truth he is hiding feel heavier than it did before.
