One day, when passing a particularly good looking mansion, she felt her luck needed testing, and while trying to pry off a golden gargoyle, a man with an equally sweet smile spoke to her, and brought her inside.

She was never meant to disappear like this. But love, when mixed with fear and sacrifice, can make even the most impossible decisions feel necessary. Hidden behind a fragile truth-a lingering illness she could no longer ignore-she chose to vanish from the life she cherished the most. To spare him from pain, she asked her parents to do the unthinkable: if her condition ever came to light, they were to tell him she had died... and make him believe it, completely.
