When his father Eric lay dying, Jesse listened to stories of journeys long past: names of cities, brief details about a dusty road, a seaside inn, a train whistle in the night. After the funeral, he decides to trace those fragments, city by city, not only to discover who his father once was but also to make sense of his own uncertain place in the world. Each chapter is a different stop on Eric's map: sometimes revelatory, sometimes disappointing, but always reshaping Jesse's idea of family, legacy, and the weight of memory.
