It whispers of exile and destiny, love and jealousy, brotherhood and betrayal, war and peace, of victory over evil. In the distant future, Sāketa, a hovering citadel, the shining capital of the Surya System, stands as humanity's greatest experiment - a living city governed by a superior sun-powered AI known as the Surya Core, designed to maintain perfect equilibrium between progress, order, and moral logic. When the Core detects an anomaly - a disturbance in the moral algorithm of Sāketa - it triggers the Exile Protocol, a failsafe meant to remove any variable that could disrupt the balance. The variable turns out to be Amar, a scion of the city's founding lineage, known for his clarity, compassion, and quiet rebellion against the system's cold logic. Bound by duty, Amar accepts exile into the VanaGrid, a vast wilderness beyond the Core's jurisdiction - where human instinct, forgotten values, and living ecosystems still thrive. He is joined by Siya, his partner, a biologist attuned to the living networks of nature, and Anuj, his fiercely loyal brother who mistrusts the system's verdict. As they descend into the ungoverned zones of VanaGrid- an unknown zone build on nuclear war remains where nature has evolved and thrived with its own defenses. Meanwhile, Across the seas, a corporate empire controlled from the dark web of Lankara, a ghost city on the sea, a visionary technocrat obsessed with transcending mortality by merging human consciousness with powerful rogue consciousness known only as X. He is rewriting the very laws of existence - seeking to free humanity from the Core's control, even if it means destroying everything that remains of civilization. Amar has to make an impossible choice -to destroy Varrak's (Ravan) abomination- and with it, erase Siya's digital essence within?

The book examines how individuals and countries would react to the loss of most of the World's computers due to a massive electro-magnetic pulse (EMP) from the Sun. Without computers to operate them, all modern cars, trucks and trains would stop operating and the entire electric grid would fail. The world would immediately move from a post-industrial society to an early industrial society without the simpler infrastructure to allow survival. Within a week, cities and towns would have no food and no easy way to get food. Chaos would reign and society would be based on the survival of the fittest where fittest would usually mean the most ruthless. Each chapter is self-contained and looks at the experiences of individuals and public agencies all over the world Although this book is classed as "Science Fiction" it is more accurately a work of "speculative fiction since a nuclear war, which is always possible, would have much the same effect. The first part of the book is presented here. The remaining parts will be presented subsequently

Full of growing suspense and surprise turns, "The End," set in the very near future, follows the winding and overlapping paths of several compelling characters as they're forced to navigate independent, yet inter-winding paths through the turbulent waters of a post-apocalyptic planet. These men, women and children struggle to make impossible decisions and, for some, unthinkable autocracies, in the name of self-preservation. At the moment of the event, time abruptly stops, and then slowly begins again, as our heroes are and heroines are jolted out of their mundane lives and sent reeling. "When confronted with the impossible and the unbelievable, the most viable options are often the most irrational." --Greta Thunberg, May 2027 This book, although 'technically' a work of fiction, is unique because the author has actually been on-site and personally witnessed almost all of the events and narratives described in it. Dan Martin has seen some of the planet's worst natural and man-made catastrophic events--war, devastating earthquakes, government and economic collapse, pandemics, looting, killing and kidnapping. He has personally been immersed in the chaos, destruction and collapse of cities and nations, and is able to convey those raw, often gritty, surreal experiences through the novel's lead characters. As the reader follows the unfolding drama, the characters assume real-life behaviors, actions and reactions with which the reader can relate and identify. You may even share some of the same tragic experiences. It is an inconceivable perspective and awareness that can only be imprinted on an individual who has actually experienced and been present during and immediately after such a horrific, life-changing event--something other post-apocalyptic authors are completely oblivious to and can only imagine.

The blinding flash came first, so intense that it blinded even through closed eyes. The deafening thunder followed very shortly after, as the burning light began to subside. The cloud appeared as a silhouette at first against the whiteout, but as the sky returned to normal colour the iconic mushroom could be seen rising into the sky. The heat wave was the first to unleash its deadly power, burning hotter than the sun everything in its path incinerated instantly. Everything from stone to the air itself vaporised in an instant for miles around the blast. Then came the shock wave to finish where the heat wave left off, levelling everything in its path. Everything above ground level ripped from it place and blown to pieces as if it was nothing more than paper. All life for miles around the cloud simply erased from existence, as if it was never there at all. Gone. Gone in only few minutes.
