A rudimentary rewrite of the Rings of Power. Our overlords, headed by the Dark Lord Bezos, have sullied The One Tolkien's prophecy. I present to you my head-cannon rewrite of the show. I also will be using more source material than the bastardized show, but even with my best effort of research and understanding of the Silmarillion et cetera, I cannot promise my retelling will take into account every ounce of lore that has ever been written of Ea. Note: My prose and linguistic skills will never rival the likes of Tolkien, but I have a deep appreciation and care for his storytelling. I will try my best to give respect to his original works and tone but just know that (I believe) no one has ever rivaled his skill, therefore mine will be no different. At least I am not motivated by turning a profit by commodifying a deeply spiritual legendarium carefully crafted by one of the best artists of all time. In the spring of 1915, the RMS Lusitania was sunk by a German U-Boat. American passenger Lilla McCarthy was certain she would drown. She did, for all intents and purposes. Except someone was there to revive her, far from the shores of our world. Lilla is mistaken for a Númenórean noble lady and taken to the halls of the High King of the Noldor, Gil-Galad. Unsure how to explain what has happened to her, Lilla plays along with the assumptions made about her identity. However, the keen eyed elvish king suspects there is more to her story than she is saying. Especially as she begins to seek a way back home to our world.

Rumors of unrest reach the Numenorean port city of Lond Daer: Dwarves looking to establish trade, Wild-men gathering in the hills, and even some Elves have been seen wandering the woods of Middle-Earth again. As uncertainty drifts through the city, this much at least is certain: the river Greyflood runs deeper and swifter of late than ever it has before.

Villains are cruel and evil, it is true. They wreak pain and death and destruction. But all villains were loved once. (I wrote this fanfiction in 5th grade for a Literature class, so it isn't as good as it could be. So bear with me, please)

I'm sure my tale won't fall upon open ears. But if I write this before the water rises and I am lost forever, perhaps someone might gain a glimmer of insight into my tormented soul. I shan't claim to have a desire to be understood, but a desire to confess, certainly. I thought I made the right decision, as I am told is rather common. Regret, that is. Perhaps it was the right decision. Perhaps I was, accidentally, a nail in the coffin of evil, or perhaps I was fighting on the right side. My name, as it is known, is cursed in every tongue. I am the Deceiver, the Betrayer, the Defiler. They have many names for me. Perhaps, one day, they will be remembered not in hatred but in regret, sadness, resigned frustration. Those are the emotions that occur when anger cools. I, certainly, should know. You know who I am. But, if you're slow and haven't caught on yet, you may refer to me by any of these four names (I don't respond to the Defiler): Mairon, Gorthaur, Annatar, or, if you still don't know who I am, Sauron.
