Sułtan miał 7 żon: Safiye, Sahihuban, Semsiruhsar, Nazperver, Mihriban, Fahriye, Fulane. Lecz największą miłością darzył swoją główną konkubinę czyli sułtankę Safiye ( matkę jego następcy sułtana Mehmeda III ). Miał dużo dzieci, bo aż 30: Mehmed III, Osman, Mustafa, Bajazyd, Abdullah, Selim, Sulejman, Cihangir, Mahmud, Murad, Abdul Rahman, Hasan, Ahmed, Yakup, Alemsah, Yusuf, Huseyin, Korkut, Ali, Isak, Omer, Alladdin, Davud, Ayse, Fatma, Hatice, Mihrimah, Fahriye, Mihriban, Rukiye.
