It was 1944 when Albus Dumbledore and several teams of Aurors liberated Grindelwald's prison during the Great War. They broke free the dozens of captives and lost souls held there only to find a surprise chained in the most heavily guarded tower cell. Her name was Minerva McGonagall and she was the reason Albus Dumbledore came.

What if Albus Dumbledore had succumbed to the darkness of Gellert Grindelwald? How would events from 1945 play out if the world was at the mercy of the two most powerful dark lords in history? Who would rise against such power? And what would become of a certain wizard that, in the world we know, rose from the ashes of Grindelwald's defeat to de-throne him as the darkest wizard of all time?

After a long life of questions and sorrow, (Y/N) finally gets the chance to find out who her parents are. Together with her best friend, Robert Flynn, she ventures out into the world, looking for the people that gave her the 'gift' of life. However, once her true heritage is finally revealed it leaves her distraught and uncertain. As she seeks out her father and joins his cause in a desperate attempt to get to know him better, she realizes that he was not at all what she had hoped for. A long journey lies ahead of them, and choices have to be made.
