Chris begins working the night shift at a nursing home where something feels wrong from the very first night. Strange sounds. Unexplained sightings. And memories that don't seem to belong to him. As the line between reality and memory begins to blur, Chris finds himself drawn deeper into a mystery that may have been waiting for him long before he arrived. A psychological horror story about memory, fear, and the things we cannot leave behind.

Collection I of Whispers from The Salt Table "There was an old saying in my great-grandmother's house: Don't leave the window open when someone is close to leaving." James never believed in old family sayings. He spent a lifetime running from love, pushing away the people who cared for him most, and convincing himself he needed no one. Now, at the end of his life, he lies alone in a quiet nursing home room with blue walls, a television that never says anything worth hearing, and one window that refuses to stay closed. Every morning, the nurses close it. Every night, it opens again. At first, the breeze is warm. Then it begins to whisper. As forgotten memories return and old regrets rise to the surface, James must face the one journey he spent his entire life avoiding-the road back home. Inspired by family traditions, faith, memory, and Southern folklore, James and the Open Window is the first collection in Whispers from The Salt Table-stories where love, loss, and mystery quietly share the same room. Because some stories aren't meant to frighten us. They're meant to remind us.

Antonio is a young man who works as a nurse's assistant in a nursing home in California. There is a certain young female resident there who he's befriended, and there is a rather pretty housekeeper who he can't help but stare after. When he falls for both, drama ensues, mainly with his paranoid girlfriend, and when medical emergencies happen, things get more interesting. Rari has a huge crush on Antonio, and they get along great, but any potential relationship between them is slim since he has a girlfriend, he likes that pretty housekeeper, and resident-employee relationships are not allowed. Who would think it would happen anyway? Wait... is he blushing in Rari's presence? No way. 💗 This story is dedicated to a special young woman who was a resident at the nursing home I work at, and who passed away recently. This is for you, C! 💗🌷

This is a collection of real life stories of when I worked as a recreation therapist with the geriatric population in a twenty year period in both nursing home(also known as skilled nursing facilities)and assisted living facility settings. In some of these stories, I've changed some of the names for privacy reasons. This was during a period of which quality mattered when creating and conducting recreation programs. It wasn't limited to running Bingo games nor simply putting on compact discs for patients to listen to. It was when genuine care, the willingness to learn and using one's abilities in creating positive therapist-client relationships were essential to the quality of life of the patients. Unfortunately, what was once essential had become very much non-essential. The health care facilities believed that Recreation became the lowest possible level on the totem pole of health care. This was despite the endless studies that have proved that Recreation is an important means of improving geriatric patients' quality of life. Despite my dedication to my work and abilities, I found out that these were considered both unwelcoming and threatening to the staff. I realized that if I remained in this field, I'd be putting my entire career as well as my overall well being in jeopardy. For these reasons, I had to leave the Recreation field. It was suggested to me that I write my stories about how I was able to reach geriatric patients using my sincere care, creative abilities, experience and all I could bring to enhance their quality of life. In doing this, I know that I've left the field with my sanity intact and a clear conscious. (C) 2021 C
