"I'm a writer. I know perfectly well how to remove a character from a story-or add one," she said, glaring at the man seated at the desk.
"Hm." Ignoring her, he continued typing and then answered a call on his laptop.
Annoyed, she stormed toward him, cupped his face in her hands, and tilted it up so he had no choice but to look at her. He stared at her in astonishment, fingers frozen above the keyboard.
"Jab aapki biwi kuch kahe toh uski suni chahiye, Swami," she said with a tight smile-completely unaware that he was in the middle of a conference call...and everyone on the screen had just witnessed the entire scene.

"Why are you so stubborn, Miss Srivastava?" he muttered, watching her type through the night, fever brightening her cheeks.
"Mr Patili, this is important. So, don't disturb me!" she snapped, brushing hair from her face and leaning toward her laptop again.
"That's it," he said, stepping closer when he saw her sway in the chair.
"Don't you-" she began, but suddenly the ground shifted beneath her.
"What the hell!" she yelped as he lifted her into his arms.
"You're burning up," he said, ignoring her weak protest.
"Work can wait. You can't."
"Put me down, Patili," she mumbled.
"Not happening," he replied, carrying her away despite her glare.
