16 year old Cali Forrest moves to Beacon Hills with her single mother, trying to escape to a new life. But unfortunately, things go south. After her first night in town, she wakes up strapped down to a metal table. 3 guys staring down at her, a veterinarian, the Sheriffs son and a so-called werewolf. But the horrors don't stop, when they tell her what she has become.

"It's going to be okay Mack, I promise," Thomas says, caressing my face. "We're going to get sent into the Maze," I say, tears welling up in my eyes. "Hey listen to me. I gave you a promise, remember? I promised you that I'd protect you no matter what and Mack, that's what I'm going to do," he says, hugging me to his chest. "The hardest part will be forgetting you," I whisper. I hear guards come and tear us apart. "Stop! Don't touch her!" Thomas shouts, struggling to break free from their hold. "You two are being sent into the Maze, director's orders," the gruff voice of the guard says. "No, just me. I forced her into helping me. Send me into the Maze but let her go. I forced her," he says. "Thomas no," I cry. "She was forced, so let her go. You can do whatever you want with me, just let her go," Thomas repeats, tears rolling down his face. The guards let me go and drag Thomas away. "Thomas!" I scream over and over again. "Mackenzie!" he shouts repeatedly as the guards pull him down the hallway. DISCLAIMER: I based the storyline more on the movie than the book. I do love the book (like a lot), but I wanted to use the movie storyline more.
